APPA Monthly Color Challenge — Official Rules

1. About the Challenge

The APPA Monthly Color Challenge is a monthly photography contest for active members of the Arkansas Professional Photographers Association (APPA). Each month, APPA will announce a featured color and invite members to create and share a new photograph inspired by that color.

The challenge is designed to encourage creativity, community participation, and interaction on APPA’s public Facebook page.

2. Eligibility

The challenge is open to current, active APPA members only, including APPA board members. Membership will be verified before a prize is awarded.

No purchase, renewal, or additional fee is required to enter beyond being a current APPA member.

3. Monthly Theme and Entry Period

APPA will announce one featured color and the entry deadline in the official Monthly Color Challenge announcement on the APPA Facebook page.

All entries must be submitted by the date and time stated in that month’s announcement. APPA’s determination of the entry deadline is final.

4. How to Enter

To enter:

  1. Create a photograph inspired by the featured monthly color.

  2. Publish the photograph as a new public visitor post directly on the APPA Facebook page during the entry period. Do not submit the entry as a comment on another post.

  3. Include the hashtag #APPAMonthlyColorChallenge and the month’s designated hashtag: [MONTHLY HASHTAG].

  4. Include a brief caption. This may be a description of the image, the story behind it, camera settings, creative process, or any other detail the photographer wishes to share.

  5. Include your name or business name if it is not clear from your Facebook profile.

Posts made elsewhere on Facebook, including posts that only tag APPA, do not qualify as entries.

One entry per APPA member is permitted each month.

5. New Work Requirement

Entries must be newly created during the current month’s challenge period.

By entering, the photographer confirms that the submitted image was captured specifically for the current APPA Monthly Color Challenge and was not previously posted, submitted to another contest, or selected from an existing archive.

APPA recognizes that it may not be possible to independently verify the date every photograph was taken. This rule relies on the professional integrity of participating members.

6. Image Requirements

Each entry must be the photographer’s original work. The entrant must have all permissions needed to photograph, display, and submit the image, including permission from recognizable people or owners of private property when applicable.

Entries must be suitable for APPA’s public Facebook page. APPA may remove or disqualify any entry that is inappropriate, infringes another person’s rights, violates Facebook’s Community Standards, or does not follow these rules.

7. Winner Selection

The monthly winner will be the eligible entry with the highest combined total of Facebook Likes and comments at the close of the challenge period.

Only standard Facebook Likes and comments made directly on the entrant’s original APPA Facebook page post will count. Reactions other than “Like,” replies to comments, self-Likes, duplicate comments, spam, and engagement added after the announced deadline will not count.

In the event of a tie, the entry with the greater number of comments will win. If there is still a tie, APPA will select a winner by random drawing among the tied eligible entries.

APPA may remove or disqualify entries that use fake accounts, purchased engagement, automated activity, or any attempt to unfairly influence the results.

8. September Prize

One winner will receive a $100 Bedford’s Camera gift certificate, purchased and provided by APPA.

Bedford’s Camera has also offered the monthly winner a 5% discount, subject to Bedford’s Camera’s own terms, exclusions, and expiration requirements.

The prize is nontransferable and may not be exchanged for cash.

Each month’s prize will be different.

9. Winner Notification

APPA will announce the winner on its Facebook page after the entry period closes and engagement totals have been reviewed.

The selected winner must respond within 14 days and verify current APPA membership. If the selected winner does not respond, cannot verify membership, or is otherwise ineligible, APPA may select the next eligible entry with the highest qualifying engagement total.

10. Use of Submitted Images

By entering, photographers grant APPA permission to share their submitted image on APPA’s Facebook page, website, email communications, and other APPA promotional materials related to the Monthly Color Challenge. APPA will make reasonable efforts to credit the photographer.

Photographers retain ownership and copyright of their images.

11. Facebook Disclaimer

This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Facebook.

12. General Conditions

APPA may modify, suspend, or cancel the challenge if circumstances outside its reasonable control affect the fairness, administration, or security of the contest.

APPA’s decisions regarding eligibility, qualifying engagement, winner selection, and interpretation of these rules are final.
